The Sigma DP2 is in a new dimension of digital compact cameras. Sigma calls the DP line "full-spec" cameras, meaning that they have more advanced features than most compacts. The sensor of the DP2 is comparable in size to some DSLR's further closing the gap in image quality between point-and-shoot cameras and their bigger, bulkier SLR counterparts. Also, the DP2's Foveon direct image sensor has an unheard of three layers of pixels giving it superior sharpness to just about any digital camera on the market, even SLRs. The separate color layers may allow the camera to match the sharpness that we used to enjoy in the days of color film.
