East Coast Home + Design Magazine (formerly Fairfield County Home)
in Connecticut does not pay their photographers. I have had two Invoices unpaid since July 2009, and despite all attempts to get paid both Matt and Shelly have refused to pay me. Matt does not answer his phone or return phone calls.

I ran into the same problem once when I did some freelance work for another photographer.
Now I require a 20% deposit and the final amount must be paid "Before" I release the finished photos.
If they pay by check I don't release the photos until the check clears the bank.
And I also stipulate in the contract that if they don't pay the final bill I keep the photos and resell them as Stock and they forfeit their deposit.
Never had anyone stiff me again after I implimented these rules.
